What caused the explosion?
Question
March 14, 2007
hi, my question is that if an explosion had happened, what had caused. Some thing had to of caused an explosion because explosions don't get made by nothing and if there wasn't anything in the universe at that time how did the explosion happen?

Answer
The only explanation is that all of the matter in the universe was compressed into a little ball, and then something triggered it to release and explode. How that matter got into the little ball and what caused it to explode is a mystery. Many people believe that this is how God created the universe.
Others disagree and say that there was no Big Bang at all. They say that the universe was always here and that is simply oscillating back and forth, so that looks like it started from a single point.
Obviously, we can never know what really happened. It is all speculation.

Answer
The Big Bang Theory is a guess at how things started. Some scientists believe that the Universe is just oscillating like a spring, so that it would have existed before the Big Bang. And of course, the religious view is that God created the Universe.
