Mini-Quiz: Big Bang Theory

by Ron Kurtus (12 November 2006)

Take this Mini-Quiz to check your understanding of the lesson material.

1. How can astronomers tell the galaxies are moving away from us?

They can see them through a telescope as they move away

They get smaller every day

Their light is shifting toward the color red

2. How were stars formed after the Big Bang?

Matter collected together as it cooled down after the huge explosion

Matter flew apart and collided with the galaxies in space

The stars refused to explode and have stayed the same

3. Can the Big Bang theory ever be proven?

Yes, if enough people believe it is true

No, because it is speculation on something that happened in the distant past

Only if the other theories are shown to be incorrect

If you got all three correct, you are on your way to becoming a Champion in Astronomy. If you had problems, you had better look over the material again.
