How long will the Earth keep spinning in the axis?
Question
December 7, 2008
how long will the Earth keep spinning in the axis?
Thando - South Africa

Answer
Although the friction from the oceans is slowing down the spin of the Earth a very small amount, it is expected that the Earth will continue to spin for millions of years.
Why does Jupiter have different colour gases?
Question
December 1, 2008
Why is it that Jupiter has the different colour gases going around over and over again?
Racine - Jamaica

Answer
Jupiter is covered by a heavy layer of hydrogen and helium gas, with an upper atmosphere of ammonia crystals. Because of the composition of the gases and the temperature on Jupiter, those gases appear in colors and in streaks of colors.
The movement of the gases is very similar to the movement of high and low pressure weather systems on Earth. The only thing is that they are I'm a much larger scale, since Jupiter is such a large planet.
Want to make a model of the Solar System
Question
October 27, 2007
i want to make model of solar system with balls. give me some idea and way
monna - Pakistan

Answer
First draw a picture of the Solar System with the Sun and planets to get a good perspective on it. The biggest problem in making such a model is holding the planets in place.
A basketball would be good as the Sun, because it is large and orange colored. You could use different sized balls to represent the planets. Attaching a stiff wire between the planet and the Sun is the usual method.
A fun method is to give other students various balls and then have them walk around a student in the middle holding the Sun.
Why are orbits ellipses?
Question
June 2, 2007
why the orbit of electrons around the nucleus is elliptical in shape? and does plasma exist on the earth its composition structure and complete explanation?is there there any technique or relation by which energy can be converted into mass..........i have read by equation....e=mc2 that energy and mass are inter convertable
Abeera - Pakistan

Answer
Planets in the solar system and electrons in orbit travel in elliptical orbits because of the forces of other objects acting on them. If there were no other planets around, the Earth would travel in a circular orbit. Likewise for electrons.
Note that new theories say that electrons are in sort of a cloud around the nucleus.
Since "c" is the speed of light, the Einstein's equation shows that mass can be converted to radiant energy. When the atom splits, some of its mass is sent off as high energy particles and gamma rays.
Do other planets have an atmosphere?
Question
September 28, 2006
sir this is suresh from andhrapradesh(india) i have a doubt is there any atmosphere in the other planets. could u please send a mail to about this topic sir thanking u sir.

Answer
Atmosphere on a planet is a mixture of gases that surround the ground. Every plant has an atmosphere, but none of the other planets in our Solar System have the mixture of gases that we have, which includes much Oxygen that supports life. For example, Mars has a thin atmosphere that consists mainly of carbon dioxide.
