Answer
In some jobs it is possible to telecommute or to work from home, using the computer. Although it may be possible for a mechanical engineer to do something like that, typically a company would want to have the person on site and able to coordinate with others in person.
If you're highly experienced, you might be able to start up a one-person engineering company. But you really need good contacts in various companies to get contracts.
Another possibility is to contact international companies have offices in Uganda and that use mechanical engineers to see if it's possible to form an alliance with those companies for contracts outside of the country.
I hope these ideas help, and best wishes with your career.
