Mini-Quiz: Dealing with Dates and Times in ColdFusion

by Ron Kurtus (revised 17 December 2001)

Take this Mini-Quiz to check your understanding of the lesson material.

1. How do you output a date queried from date/time field in a database?

Use the DateFormat function

Use Validation

Use the CreateODBCDateTime function

2. What is wrong with using validation when inputting time through a form?

You must use CFINPUT

You can't account for Daylight Savings Time

It uses a 24 hour clock

3. Why can't you use CFUPDATE with dates or time?

You need to first convert to ODBC format and then update per field

CFUPDATE only works with whole numbers

You can use it for dates but not times

If you got all three correct, you are on your way to becoming a Champion in ColdFusion Development. If you had problems, you had better look over the material again.
