I am sorry to hear you are getting low grades in school. Do you have any idea why you are having such trouble? Do you do poorly in tests? Do you do your homework? Are you having trouble concentrating? Is the class material too hard for you?
The first thing to do is to examine where your problem is and what is the reason.
Being able to do well in tests and exams is important. Try to take notes of important things in class and do your homework as if it was an exam. That gives you practice.
Make sure you are not being distracted in class and when you are doing your homework.
Although it is not easy to do, talk to your teacher and tell that you want to get better grades and ask for some advice on how you can improve. You may find out what you area doing wrong.
Finally, go through our lessons on getting good grades, as well as reading the feedback from other students. You may get some good ideas.
The fact that you want to improve is a good start. I am sure you will be able to improve and get good grades. Try to get top grades. I know you can do it.
Having trouble getting my grades up
October 5, 2015
I am really having trouble getting my grades up can you possibly help me. My parents keep lecturing me but i hate it.
haley - USA
Just the fact that you want to get better grades is a good start.
Picking a good spot and time to do your homework is helpful. Have it a special time with no distractions. You can gt your homework done much faster then. Also, take notes of important items that will probably be on your tests.
Go through some of our lessons on getting good grades that may apply to you.
Once you get a good plan of action, tell your parents. If they know you have a plan, it should stop them from lecturing you.
Best wishes on getting top grades. I know you can do it.
How can I perform well in my science subjects?
September 26, 2015
How can i understood and perform well in my combination subjects (physics, chemistry & biology)?
David - Tanzania
Those courses require learning the basic concepts and using logical thinking. In other words, thing should make sense.
Physics probably will require knowledge of Algebra and ability to solve problems.
Read the material in your books, carefully and make notes about things you don't understand, so you can ask your teacher.
Also, take notes in class about important concepts the teacher mentions. Class notes will often help you when you study for your tests.
Sit towards the front of the class, so your teachers will know you are anxious to learn.
I am sure you will do well in your classes. Best wishes for good grades.

I want to be first in class, what should I do?
Parden - Ghana
It is good that you want to be first in your class. Some ways to help your grades include:
Sit toward the front of the class.
Take notes of important items your teacher says; those notes can be used to study for tests.
Set aside a specific time to do your homework.
Practice taking tests, so you become good at doing them.
Also, go through our lessons to give you other ideas.
Best wishes for becoming a champion in your class.
I want to get good grades in school
July 4, 2015
I h've poor time planning.
I am avarage at school but I dont work hard.
I learn a secondary school in Kenya. There are stiff competition in our school. I want to score well from now on. Plz would you help me the tips of reading books?
Abdikafi - Kenya
A big problem many students have is that there are so many distractions around them, such that they never concentrate on their schoolwork.
It is good to set aside a specific time to do your schoolwork or homework, not allowing any distractions. In fact, you can set aside a certain amount of time for each subject matter or assignment. Then make sure you finish the assignment within that time period.
It is good to write down your schedule, so that you will then follow it. This is a good time management method.
Also, write down the grades you would like to get in each class and put that list somewhere where it will remind you of your goals every day.
Taking notes in class is a good way to keep up with the competition. It also helps you study for your exams.
You have good goals and the potential to excel. Look over the lessons on Getting Good Grades for ideas to improve.
Best wishes for success in school.

Wants good grades like twin sister
May 21, 2015
Hi!I recently I got an E in physics, biology and chemistry and I do many past papers. I have a twin and she gets A's and B's in her tests and she hardly revises. Every time I cry my self to sleep as my parents are always nagging me into trying harder as my sister is doing well in school. I really need some advise to how I could ppssibly get good grades. I am starting to give up on life and school and I am starting to stop revising altogether. I just need ur help as I want to become a vet and in order to do thia I need A's in science and I am getting E's. I am in year 9 and we start our GCSE's in year 9
Nihal - UK
Sometimes twins have different capabilities and talents. The worst thing to do is to try to compete with your twin. Instead, seek to do the best you can do.
Also, consider what areas in school where you really excel. Your talents may be in other areas than your twin's talents.
Consider the reasons you do not do well in the science classes. Do you understand the material? Do you have trouble with tests? Do you have good study habits? These may be areas in which you can improve.
The fact that you have to study harder than your sister can make you stronger in the long run, especially if you don't give up.
Tell your teachers you would like better grades, and ask them for pointers on how you can improve. In fact, you might even ask your sister if she can give suggestions on how you can get better grades. Any type of advice can only help you.
Don't get discouraged. Even Einstein didn't do well in school. Also, make sure you are aiming in areas where you have the most talent.
I am sure you will be able to excel and reach your dreams as a champion.
I hope these ideas help.
Want support to reach my goals
May 17, 2015
I'm characterized with good moral values, hardworking, have set an ambition and goal for myself but lack support, hence I'm not able to reach my goal, Am asking, is it because of lacking support or any other hidden problem?
Richard - Ghana
You can still reach your goals without having support. However, it is much easier and pleasant if you have people encouraging and supporting your efforts.
Many people like to help others reach their goals by giving advice. In school, you might ask your teachers for pointers on getting better grades. They usually like to have ambitious students. If there are other areas in which you have goals, try to find experts in the field. Often older experts are glad to mentor others.
Friends and family can give you encouragement. However, sometimes there are friends who may be jealous of your success. You need to keep that in mind.
You are off to a good start, and I am sure your will succeed and be a champion in what you try to do.
Best wishes on your success, and let me know how things turn out.
Was caught with foreign material
May 15, 2015
im going through a trauma now. I was caught with a foreign material on the day of my last paper. I am now on vacation and so I have not heard when I would be facing the desciplinary committee. What should I do??
Samuel - Ghana
It is difficult to know what the disciplinary committee will do, but if this has been your first offense and you show you are sorry for the lack of judgement, they may let you off with a small punishment.
Telling them that you have never done something like this before and that it was a mistake on your part may help to influence them.
Best wishes on a positive result. Let me know how things turn out.
Wants good grades because of her dad
April 11, 2015
I just wanted to know how to get good grades because of my dad and see the tricks to it
Tahiya - UK
Although your dad may want you to get good grades, the most important thing is that you want good grades to feel good about yourself. They are also important for your future.
You can look through the lessons to get ideas to improve in different areas, such as doing homework and doing well in tests.
Set a goal of what grades you want to get. Write them down on a piece of paper that you can check as a reminder.
The fact that you want good grades is a first important step in achieving your goal. It shows that you have it in you to succeed.
Best wishes on getting top grades in school.
Hopefully, this reader feedback has helped provide information about issues on Getting Good Grades.
