Has been expelled 3 times

Topic: General

Question

March 20, 2014

As a 12 year old boy I've been expelled 3 times and everytime its the same thing......insubordination disorderly conduct or fighting. I don't know exactly what makes me get in trouble so much but I want to find out, if you can't help I understand . Now the grown ups often think there always right but there not , sometimes when I try to explain they scream at me and I tend to get very frustration and they don't understand. And I forgot to mention that I failed the sixth grade.:-(

Answer

I'm sorry to hear that you have been having trouble in school. It is important to do some things to rectify the situation.

You seem like an intelligent person. I am sure you can do better than getting into trouble in and outside of school. Certainly, you are too smart to have to repeat the 6th grade. At the very least, you should be able to get A's the next time around.

Although you can argue with teachers and adults, as well as other students, to try to prove you are right and they are wrong. But that method will not get you very far and result in problems. You have to think smart and learn to deal with people to help them see your views.

It is only natural not to want to do things you are told to do. However, you can sometimes negotiate the outcome. One thing to do is to be polite and show respect for the person's opinion. After listening to the person, you might even say, "Can I give my opinion on that?"

If you are hanging around with the wrong crowd, they can drag you down. Try to be friends with winners and not the losers. If you have friends who also get in trouble, perhaps you could be a leader that they can respect and look up to.

Look a the lesson When the Teacher is a Jerk to see how to handle adults. Realize that they have issues too.

It will be tough to get the respect of others, but you have the talent to become a champion in school. Just try to learn how to effectively deal with teachers, adults, and other students so that you can avoid problems and even be well-liked. I know you can do it.

Best wishes, and let me know how things turn out.

Trouble with comprehension

Topic: General

Question

February 16, 2014

What Is Comprehension?? Because I Have A Hard Time With Comprehension

jada - USA

24522

Answer

To comprehend means that you understand the material or concept. Sometimes teachers omit the basics of a topic or assume the students know the basics. That makes comprehension difficult, especially if something is abstract.

Try to find out the reason and goals of material, as well as what the words mean. Difficult words that you don't understand can make it hard to comprehend the material.

I hope this helps. Best wiches for success in your studies.

I shake when giving a presentaiton

Topic: Speak with Confidence

Question

February 6, 2014

Hello Sir.
My Question Is About Shaking in Front of The Class I mean When I am Giving Presintion Or Speaking My body Just shaking.
the 2nd is when i am Speaking in front of class my mouth stops in every sentence.
pleas give me answer
Thanks

Mirwais - Afghanistan

24495

Answer

The best way to prevent your body from shaking is to have practiced your presentation several times in front of friends and relatives. This is rehearsing, just as actors in a play must do. You want to make sure you are comfortable in what you will be saying.

You can some short notes to refer to if you forget what you were going to say. You shouldn't need the notes, but they will give you more confidence if you have them available.

It is good to pause after each sentence. Your idea is to make sure everyone understands what you are saying. Some presenters try to go so fast that it is hard to understand.

Do not try to impress others. Your job is to help your audience understand the subject.

With some good practice, I am sure you will do a good job in giving your presentations. Best wishes for success. I know you can do it.

Answer

You are off to a good start by wanting to excel and to be the top of your class. You can start by going through the lessons on getting good grades that relate to you.

Set aside a specific time to do your homework and don't allow distractions. Also, pay attention in class. Teachers often give hints on what will be in the exams. It is good to try to sit near the front in class, because it actually will help your grades.

I know you have what it take to be a top student. Best wishes in your efforts.

Students should show empathy toward teacher

Topic: Teacher is a Jerk

Question

November 20, 2013

Hi -- regarding the article "When the Teacher is a Jerk":

I think you could do students a favour by helping them develop empathy in this article. The reasons you provide for explaining why a teacher is a jerk suggest that the teacher is permanently mean, unskilled, or there's an unresolvable personality conflict... all of which could lead to a student writing off that teacher.

Have you considered adding the perspective that the teacher could be stressed, frustrated, overworked, or experiencing crisis in their personal life? As much as we all hope, in every profession, to maintain professionalism at all times, the human heart is leaky! This can lead students to interact more positively with the teacher, which could result in less "jerky" behaviour from the teacher.

- USA

Answer

I agree that if a teacher acts cranky or unpleasant on occasion, students should realize that everyone has a bad day and show some empathy toward the teacher. However, if the teacher seems to act negatively toward the class or certain students most of the time, it may be better to use another strategy.

Students should try to stay on the good side of their teachers and certainly not bad-mouth them to other students, which can make matters worse. A positive approach is usually the best route to take.

Note that this also applies to adults who are working for a boss who often acts poorly toward them.

Interview on speed reading

Topic: General

Question

October 10, 2013

Dear Ron,

Could we interview you for our 7 Speed Reading blog?
I think our readers would be very interested to read about a leader in personal and professional development.
The interview would be via email. I would send you 5 questions and it would only take 10 minutes of your time.
We would publish it on our blog.

Our blog at http://www.7speedreading.com/blog is one of the highest quality speed reading blogs on the internet,
and the site gets 25,000 readers every month. We also send every blog post to our subscriber list of 20,000.
We also publish it on Twitter, Facebook, etc. so there would be lots of exposure in this for you.

On the other hand, is there also a way where you can also endorse 7 Speed Reading on your website?

Just let me know the possibilities but it will really mean a ton if you say yes.

Thanks for your time.

Best Regards

Rick - USA
