Wants good grades like twin sister

Topic: General

May 21, 2015

Hi!I recently I got an E in physics, biology and chemistry and I do many past papers. I have a twin and she gets A's and B's in her tests and she hardly revises. Every time I cry my self to sleep as my parents are always nagging me into trying harder as my sister is doing well in school. I really need some advise to how I could ppssibly get good grades. I am starting to give up on life and school and I am starting to stop revising altogether. I just need ur help as I want to become a vet and in order to do thia I need A's in science and I am getting E's. I am in year 9 and we start our GCSE's in year 9

Nihal - UK

Sometimes twins have different capabilities and talents. The worst thing to do is to try to compete with your twin. Instead, seek to do the best you can do.

Also, consider what areas in school where you really excel. Your talents may be in other areas than your twin's talents.

Consider the reasons you do not do well in the science classes. Do you understand the material? Do you have trouble with tests? Do you have good study habits? These may be areas in which you can improve.

The fact that you have to study harder than your sister can make you stronger in the long run, especially if you don't give up.

Tell your teachers you would like better grades, and ask them for pointers on how you can improve. In fact, you might even ask your sister if she can give suggestions on how you can get better grades. Any type of advice can only help you.

Don't get discouraged. Even Einstein didn't do well in school. Also, make sure you are aiming in areas where you have the most talent.

I am sure you will be able to excel and reach your dreams as a champion.

I hope these ideas help.

Want support to reach my goals

Topic: Champion

May 17, 2015

I'm characterized with good moral values, hardworking, have set an ambition and goal for myself but lack support, hence I'm not able to reach my goal, Am asking, is it because of lacking support or any other hidden problem?

Richard - Ghana

You can still reach your goals without having support. However, it is much easier and pleasant if you have people encouraging and supporting your efforts.

Many people like to help others reach their goals by giving advice. In school, you might ask your teachers for pointers on getting better grades. They usually like to have ambitious students. If there are other areas in which you have goals, try to find experts in the field. Often older experts are glad to mentor others.

Friends and family can give you encouragement. However, sometimes there are friends who may be jealous of your success. You need to keep that in mind.

You are off to a good start, and I am sure your will succeed and be a champion in what you try to do.

Best wishes on your success, and let me know how things turn out.

Was caught with foreign material

Topic: Cheating

May 15, 2015

im going through a trauma now. I was caught with a foreign material on the day of my last paper. I am now on vacation and so I have not heard when I would be facing the desciplinary committee. What should I do??

Samuel - Ghana

It is difficult to know what the disciplinary committee will do, but if this has been your first offense and you show you are sorry for the lack of judgement, they may let you off with a small punishment.

Telling them that you have never done something like this before and that it was a mistake on your part may help to influence them.

Best wishes on a positive result. Let me know how things turn out.

The fact that you want good grades is a first important step in achieving your goal. It shows that you have it in you to succeed.

Best wishes on getting top grades in school.

We’ve put together a number of guides to help students understand copyright laws, plagiarism and DMCA:

Would you consider including these in your student resources section, or on this page of your website?

I know you’ve cited other resources on this topic before and I feel our guides would serve to supplement the information already on your website; and specifically help students and young people in your community to better understand these complex topics.

Just to give you some background is a free tool that allows people to identify who hosts a website or particular piece of content. One of the most common uses of our tool is to identify and contact perpetrators of copyright infringement.

I’d welcome your thoughts on the piece and do let me know if you have any questions.

All the best,

Have been reading but not getting good grades

i have been reading but I am not getting good grades. I do not know what is wrong. what can I do?

ifunanya - Nigeria

Reading is important in learning and in getting good grades. However, you not only need to understand what you read, but also you must remember the important parts of the material.

A good point to know is that usually, the first sentence is the most important in each paragraph. The rest of the paragraph elaborates on the first sentence.

Some students mark sentences or words that are important. Then it is easier to review the material when studying for a test.

Another way to help understanding is to write a short paragraph summarizing the ideas in a chapter you have just read. Although this is extra work, it will help in the long-run.

I hope these ideas help. Best wishes on getting top grades in school. I know you can do it.

Please help me... im so mad at myself and so desperate so become very good at school again. I was very good in 2nd grade with a average of 8.7/10 and now im at a 8. Please help me! Everything is appreciated.

It is good that you have a good of getting better grades and to get back to where you should be. Some ideas to help you improve include:

Set a specific time and place to do your homework, with no interruptions. Study smarter, emphasizing important areas.

Ask yourself why you are having problems. Is it a lack of understanding? Studying the wrong things? Goofing up tests? Or what? You might be able to find areas for improvement.

Ask your teachers for advice on how you can improve your grades. At the very least, they will know you are interested in improving yourself.

Sitting toward the front of the class helps you pay attention. Usually those in front get better grades than those way in the back.

Take notes in your classes. As you go up in grades, note-taking becomes more important. It also helps in studying for tests. Teachers give hints on what will be on the test or exam.

I hope these ideas help. Don't get discouraged. You know that you have what it takes to excel and become a champion in your school work.
