Teacher likes me too much
Question
May 11, 2009
Hello school-for-championship! This is Tasnim and I have a question to ask. What kind of teacher-student relationship might effect my grade? My teacher likes me a lot and I am his favorite student. And MAYBE he likes me more than a student. So can that kind of liking effect my grade? He gives me more grade then I was supposed to. I was supposed to get an "B" but instead I got an "A+". So can that kind of relationship effect my grade? Thanks and please answer. Bye! And I really appreciate if you reply. Thank You!

Answer
It is always good to have a positive relationship with your teacher. It makes the class more pleasant.
Although you can get slightly better grades when the teacher likes you, it can have a negative effect if you to get grades much higher than you deserve. Some students might slack off and not work hard enough. But also, such a situation could cause jealousy among other students, because they may think you are getting special treatment.
Some teachers will like a particular student more than others because of personality factors or because the teacher sees a great potential in the student. That is fine. However, if the teacher starts to like the student more than a student, it can be difficult for everyone.
First of all, there are laws against teachers becoming too friendly with students, such as wanting to date the student or such. But also, it is difficult for the student to be able to handle such a situation. You don't want to offend the teacher, but you also don't want to get too close either.
The best thing is to be cautious about your relationship with your teacher. You need to "walk a tightrope" to remain on friendly terms but not to let things get out of hand. Hopefully, you will get a different teacher next term, so that you don't have to worry about such things.
Best wishes in handling this situation. Let me know how things turn out.

I am glad to hear that you have a positive attitude toward getting better grades in school. It is not worthwhile to be jealous of someone else, because she got a better grade. Instead, use that to motivate you to do better. The only time to be angry is if you did not do as good as you could do.
Best wishes on getting top grades in school. You are on your way.

Answer
It is often good to outline what you plan to write before you start. This allows you to organize your thoughts. The most important thing is to write out the purpose of the essay, according to the teacher's assignment.
If you are going to write a book report, you can use our special tool to help you get started. See:

Best wishes on writing some good essays.

Answer
One reason some of the students call you a geek is because they are jealous that you are getting good grades. They are trying to build themselves up at your expense, because they are probably having trouble in class.
Another reason may be because you don't fit in with the crowd and are not one of the "guys". But then again, may not want to fit in with this group.
If you would try to befriend some of them that call you geek, they might stop doing that. The only other thing to do is not to show any reaction and act as if you never heard them call you a geek. If you get angry or embarrassed, that is what they enjoy.
Being in a bad environment or in a class that is not up to your level can result in getting bored and easily distracted. Make an effort to get in a smart class for the next semester.
I hope these ideas help, and best wishes in doing well in school.
