List of typical instruction words

Question

December 16, 2005

Years ago, I made a list of the key words that appear in instructions sauch as "list", "discuss", and "compare". One of my adult students told me it was the most important piece of information I could give her. She said that she always did badly on tests because she hadn't know what they wanted.

My list took a whole page. I am trying to reproduce that list. Do have a list or source for one of all the typical instruction words that you would share with me?
