Why is pork not included
Question
April 7, 2002
Why is pork not included in the meat selection? Should we be concerned about the fat content of meat products? And what about dairy products such as eggs and cheese? Thanks you.

Answer
Certainly, pork should be included as meat. It can have plenty of fat. If you are going to eat meat of any kind, including pork, chicken and turkey, it is good to get lean meat and to cut off excess fat. It is also better to broil instead of frying in fat.
Cholesterol seems to be more of a concern with eggs and cheese. Recently studies showed that eggs aren't as bad for people as once thought.
In general, it is good not to eat any type of food to excess.
