Answer
Dried figs are very tasty. They are a rich source of calcium, iron, magnesium, Vitamin B6, and potassium. Figs are low in fat and high in fiber. Their health benefits include reducing blood cholesterol. The fruit is also believed to have a laxative effect and can aid those who suffer from chronic constipation. They also can help solve insomnia, memory loss, and fatigue. Figs are also ideal for improving the skin.

Answer
The following information on cayenne pepper was from the site:
http://www.pccnaturalmarkets.com/health/Concern/Weight_Loss.htm
"Cayenne
Research has suggested that incorporating cayenne pepper into the diet may help people lose weight. Controlled studies report that adding 6 to 10 grams of cayenne to a meal or 28 grams to an entire days diet reduces hunger after meals and reduces calories consumed during subsequent meals. Other controlled studies have reported that calorie burning by the body increases slightly when 10 grams of cayenne is added to a meal or 28 grams is added to an entire days diet. However, no studies have been done to see if regularly adding cayenne to the diet has any effect on weight loss."
So, it sounds like it can help but they're not sure if it is long term. Check the referred page. They have other natural weight-loss recommendations.
Stopping pain with herbs and spices
Question
December 21, 2005
I have been constantly researching the non-toxic health benefits of herbs and spices for approx three years now due to health conditions discovered e.g Ankylosing Spondylitis, fibromyalgia and the now epidemic of leukemia and other cancers (thru talking with my clients). My greatest discovery of all is Feverfew and Rosemary, and a fighting attitude of "There has got to be a better way" I cannot explain to people how remarkable these herbs are, and the spices Turmeric and Holy Basil, and of course the 'GREAT GINGER" I never get sick of learning about these wonderful everyday "::taken for granted" little extras, and many others e.g. "Aloe Vera".
I could go on on, but you already know, so I won't bore you>
Very rarely do I have pain now. If only I could convince my sister who is unwilling to forgo the pain relievers prescribed by her one-eyed medical practitioner.
If I ever win Tattslotto, I could change many peoples thinking and 'way of "living" '
Thank-you for your site. If it wasn't for you, where would we be??
Best wishes for Christmas for you and yours
