Had bad reaction from local drink

Hello, I am in Thailand at the moment. I was at one of their food markets and saw Gaba brown rice for sale. They also had a drink made from the rice. This drink was the colour of soy milk. I bought some and drank it. After about 10 minutes I started to feel strange and started to experience 'hallucinations'. The best way I can discribe this is I could see flashing white lights. After four days I still have this sensation from time to time. Can you explain. Regards Nancy

Having such a reaction from the rice drink certainly can be scary. I'm wondering if they had spiked drink with something. I certainly don't think it was some sort of allergic reaction.
I don't have an explanation for it, but it certainly would be worthwhile to check with the vendor who sold the drink to find out its ingredients, as well as to ask some local people about such drinks and their effects.
In the meantime, it would be good to be cautious about what you drink while you are there.
