Answer
It could be a migraine headache, but it also may be a result of his high blood pressure and medications. Perhaps he is under some stress that is aggravating his condition.
Although painkillers give some relief, you really want to know the cause of the problem and make sure it is nothing serious. He should see a doctor to try to find out the problem. Since he had some tests, it sounds like he did go to the doctor. Hopefully, the results of his tests will provide an answer and a way to stop his headaches.
Best wishes for his health.
Sometimes smells something sweet
Question
October 4, 2005
Hi,
I don't have migranes, but I do hanve an unusual problem.
Evey now and then (and it's more now than then) I smell something very sweet.
It's not coming from my body, but I simply smell it. Have asked my husband several times when I smell it, if he does and he does not. Can be anywhere I am.
Could this be some king of symtom of illness or of drugs I am taking, I.E. norvac,
amitryptilene, lovastatin, previcid.

Answer
I could be a side-effect of medication you are taking or a combination of them. Some medications can cause the senses to play games.
Make sure you are not having medications prescribed by more than one doctor. Sometimes combinations don't work well together, so the doctors should know everything you are taking.
I don't think it is anything to worry about, but it might be worth mentioning the next time you go to the doctor.
Has migraines and body odor
Question
August 30, 2005
fi have been diagnosed with new daily persistent headache...a form of migraine distinguished by the fact that it never goes away...many drugs have been tried on me, so ar with minimal results..around the time this began, over four years ago, i began having the sensation that my body was emitting a smell that resembles ammonia..this happens most frequently after exertion or exercise..no one else has ever commented on this smell coming from me, perhaps because no one but me perceives it, or perhaps out o politeness...have you ever heard of anything like this???i know perceiving stange smells is common with migraines..can you shed any light on this subject or comment on any illnesses that cause such a strange smell?

Answer
One possibility is that you have chronic stress and tension. That can be a cause of continual headaches and smelly perspiration. Some people even notice a yellow underarm stain on their t-shirts. This nervous smell is also similar to that of a person who has been drinking too much and has a hangover.
Do you grind your teeth? That is a sign of stress and can result in migraines.
Perhaps you should take a look at your lifestyle and try some stress-reduction techniques. Cut back on coffee and alcohol. Spend some relaxation time, perhaps in meditation. Have an enjoyable exercise regime instead of a driving one. Perhaps try biofeedback. There are a number of things to try to get a more relaxed lifestyle. That might be a solution for you.
Also, check with your doctor on some non-drug solutions.
I hope these ideas help you get rid of your headaches and odor.
