Answer
Heating some fats, whether in a microwave or on the stove can turn them to trans-fats. Many frozen food packages have the number of trans-fats listed. It is always good to pick frozen foods that have less fat in general, because much of then are high in fat.

Answer
Low-fat mayonnaise is better. Of course, you normally don't use that much mayonnaise each day, so it is not such a factor in losing weight. Other items are more important, as well as eating too much. The biggest issue with fats is that they are not good for your heart.
Trying to lose weight
Question
May 29, 2004
I suppose from reading your article that corn oil is good to cook with. It's in liquid form. DAAAAEEEENNNGGGG... I wish you hadn't said that about microwave popcorn. I'm 60 and have to cook for myself. I find myself putting on a lot of weight. This I don't like, The VA won't give me any diet pills soooo, there I go. Gaining a lot of weight with little exercise. Disability thing you know. Thanks for the site and information. Got any Ideas of how I can loose all this weight. Noooo, not the dreaded, "stop eating bit". I want something simple to loose weight that I can get along with before I eat myself into the grave.
Thanks,
Travis

Answer
Olive oil is the better for your health than even corn oil.
No matter what your disability, there are exercises that can build your strength, burn off calories and help you sleep better. It is worth the effort.
Eating more vegatbles and salads can still fill you up without putting on weight. One friend uses a method where he pushes 10% of the food on his plate to the side and doesn't eat it. Although it is wasteful, he claims to have lost weight from this method. Also, watch out for the starchy foods which add to your weight.
It is tough to keep your weight down, but it makes for a better lifestyle in the long run.
