Mini-Quiz: Hazards in Microwaving Food

by Ron Kurtus (7 October 2008)

Take this Mini-Quiz to check your understanding of the lesson material.

1. Do microwaves stay in the food?

Yes, and that is why they are dangerous

Scientists have not been able to tell, since they are invisible

No, they simply heat and then pass through the food

2. Is it safe to heat a sandwich contained in plastic wrap?

Yes, because the plastic wrapping is clear

Sandwiches should never be heated and should be eaten cold

No, because the plastic material can leach into the sandwich

3. Why don't microwaves kill all the harmful bacteria in food?

Microwaves only kill good bacteria

Some areas of the food are not heated enough to kill the bacterial

Most bacteria are microwave safe

If you got all three correct, you are on your way to becoming a Champion in being Healthy. If you had problems, you had better look over the material again.
