Question

April 18, 2012

Hello, Great website! We use it often to source and send customers for replacement handles. I also thought that you might want to know that we refurbish and sell many brands of vintage USA made waterless cookware. Please check out the site at www.classickitchensandmore.com . I would be honored to be added to your list of cookware sources.
If you have any questions, please let me know.
Best regards,

Experience in getting pot top unstuck

Question

March 24, 2012

We were searching for answers on how to unstick the lid from a Lustre Craft pan (containing 2 day old tomato soup). My husband called the local Lustre Craft office for advice & found out they got bought out (by West Bend, maybe?). He was advised as you have already responded: heat the pan to break the seal. Well, we're here to tell you that this did NOT work for us. The local rep had a 2nd option: take it outside and beat the Hell out of it. We didn't want to ruin the pan, as it really, really is lifetime cookware, but we were determined to get the lid off, so my husband put a paper sack down on the driveway, turned the pan on its side and proceeded to give it a few whacks onto the paper sack. The lid popped right off and there was no damage to the pan or the lid! Now, this does sound a bit extreme, but I'm here to tell you that it works! While I'm sure the School of Champions won't add this to their recommendations, I would advise trying the heat treatment, then the soak treatment before resorting to the whack treatment.

Answer

Thanks for your feedback and information about getting your lid unstuck.

Usually the problem is a vacuum created when the heated contents cools off and contracts. Usually, just heating the pot will expand the contents and allow the top to be removed.

However, it sound like you may have had some food that dried up and really got that lid stuck. Your husband is a genius for figuring out another way to get the lid off. I'm glad it worked and the pot wasn't damaged.

Question

February 15, 2012

I have customers call me daily on replacement parts for their waterless cookware and use your site daily for help. Thank you! I had one customer give me information on Millinium cookware that you should correct on your site. Farberware does make Millinium brand but the waterless cookware set was made by Lake Industries in CA. They had to discontinue the name because of a law suit over the competing name. The name is now Nutri-Stahl which I noticed isn't mentioned. They also have some other brands. Check out there website at www.lakeindustries.com. Also, thank you for listing us Vapo-Seal on where to purchase waterless cookware. I appreciate your site and the help it gives me!

Looking for a handle for a sauce pan

Question

December 21, 2011

Hi. We are looking for a handle for a sauce pan bought under the name of Fine Arts Nothumbria and sold in Canada. Do you know if they are still around or who bought them out. My wife purchased a full set from a door to door salesman and we have been using them daily for 5o years.

Regards

James - Canada

Answer

After 50 years, they probably are out of business. However, check Fine Arts. It may be the same company.

Otherwise, see if you can find a generic handle that will fit.

Best wishes in fixing your sauce pan.

Damaged wife's cookware

Question

December 10, 2011

I have been trying to find a handle I destroyed on my wife's favorite pan out of her favorite cookware. Yes, I am in plenty of trouble ! I set it to the side of the gas fire and melted one of the handles off. Fitz-All Replacement pot handles has a replacement handle very similar. It does not have the king or queen's crown on it. The item # is 108901 and the model is 00782-3 by Top's Mfg. This cookware is approximately 42 years old. There is a king or queen's crown on it and all of the handles with 5 stems leading from the crown's band and ending with a circle on top of the stems. She thinks the name of the cookware is King's Club but is not certain because it was a gift from her Mother and she was not the one who purchased the set. We have kept the set near perfect over the years until my stupidity damaged it. Can you please help?

Answer

I'm sorry to hear that the handle on your wife's pan was damaged.

Just as it is very difficult to get replacement parts for an automobile 42 years old, it is even more difficult to get replacement handles on older cookware, especially since many have gone out of business.

If you have a handle that fits, using it is probably the best route to take. It may not look as good, but at least the pan is still usable.

Best wishes in handling the situation.

Why isn't the NutraEase brand on your list?

Question

November 9, 2011

I understand there is a NutraEase brand owned by HyCite Corp but is not in your list.

Willie - USA

22157

Answer

Although NutraEase looks like a good brand of cookware, it is not considered waterless cookware. The listing of cookware companies is associated with the page on Waterless Cooking as a healthy way of cooking.

Unfortunately, we cannot list every cookware company, especially that don't really to the purpose of the pages.
