Dear Ladies and Gentlemen,
I red your article carefully. As far as i did understand right there is written down that James Reston has recieved acupuncture only for his surgery but no anesthetica.
When I go to the link below I can read J. Restons article (Now, Let Me Tell You About My Appendectomy in Peking... )It is my understanding that Reston is not writing about surgery without anesthetica because of using acupuncture but he is writing about removing pain after surgery. Since I am not a native english speaker I am not sure whether i do understand right. Would be nice to get clarification on that issue.

Answer
There initially were reports that Reston did not receive anesthesia for the operation. That was incorrect, as his article states. I apologize for not updating our page with the correct information. I will correct the error immedately.
