Sometimes I feel lazy and not motivated

Question

May 6, 2009

When ever i plan to do something constructive sometimes i just fail to do becomes i feel lazy or dnt jst feel motivated do it, so i dont how u can help me. Thank you.

Answer

Doing something constructive is well-meaning, but it also may seem like work to you. The starting point must be to visualize the reward or benefit you will get from doing some task.

If you knew you would get a lot of money or something you always wanted, I am sure you would be motivated to do something that was even difficult.

If you wanted to fix a broken lamp so that you would have light at night, you might be motivated to do it. But if you didn't care if there was light nor not, you might just feel lazy and not bother.

Start by being aware of the benefit to you for doing something. Then you can decide whether it is worthwhile or not. But also, dream of the things you would like to get and have. Those dreams give you motivation.

I like to sleep late

Question

July 25, 2008

Thanks for all the rich messages on this website. I am just from reading why people get up from bed very early while others feel bored and still others don't want to get up. As for me, i have a job which i love but i like sleeping. so how can you assess that?
Thanks in advance

love - Cameroon

Answer

You are fortunate that you have a job that you love.

Most people need 7 to 8 hours of sleep. Some even need 10 hours of sleep. If you go to bed too late, your body may not have gotten enough rest to get up early in the morning.

Another factor is if you are a morning person or an evening person. Some people are more active in the morning and ready to go right away. But others are more efficient in the evenings. Those people often want to stay up later and get up later.

Determine how many hours of sleep you need to be refreshed. Also determine if you are a morning person or an evening person. In this way, you can adjust your schedule to be the most effective.

Wondering if there is something better in life

Question

December 19, 2007

I'm 43 years old and this article hit home. Ironically, the last few days, when waking up and about the time my feet hit the floor I can hear my voice in my mind ask out loud "Why are you here?", "What are you doing with your life?", "What makes you get up everyday?", "Is this job taking you where you want to go?" It is an amazing moment of clarity that stirs me at first and then gets quickly clouded by the routine of the day. Maybe it's mid-life crisis but I feel like I'm missing some very important task or goal or direction that I should be heading. I don't want to lose that feeling because it starts to drive my mind to look at the possibilities of the remainder of my life. I have more to offer - I just don't know how or in what capacity.

Answer

It is not unusual for a person to find that his job is no longer satisfying or fulfilling. Many people realize there is something else they'd rather be doing or that they need a change in direction. And that doesn't necessary happen as a mid-age crisis.

I met a fellow who had a degree in chemistry, but after working in the field for only three years, he realized that he didn't care that much for the job. So he went back to school and got a degree in accounting. He said it is much more satisfying work for him.

Do some soul-searching and looking at the things you really enjoy and have liked to do throughout your life. Make a list of what you don't like about your job, as well as the things you like to do. Are there any jobs where you could be doing things you like to do? Do you know anyone who is doing something you'd like to do?

It is a tough process, because it is going into feelings that have been set in your subconscious. Also, there may be things you love, but there is no way you could make enough money to live on in that field. But just keep looking.

Switching careers is common these days. The big problem is finding that area of work that you really would enjoy.

You don't want to look back when you get to retirement age and feel that you wish you would have made a switch to something else long ago.

Keep looking until you get that inspiration. Best wishes, and let me know how things turn out.
