Mini-Quiz: Causes of Depression

by Ron Kurtus (29 August 2004)

Take this Mini-Quiz to check your understanding of the lesson material.

1. If your mother had bouts of depression, would you also suffer the disease?

No, because it is only inherited by the father

If the mother is depressed, all the children will also become depressed when older

It is quite possible, but not always the case

2. Why would a person with low self-esteem become depressed?

Life seems so hopeless to such a person

It is those with high self-esteem that become depressed

Low self-esteem indicates mental illness

3. Do people ending a romantic relationship often get depressed?

No, because most are glad to get rid of the other person

There is no relationship between romance and depression

Sadness or stress can lead to a bout of depression

If you got all three correct, you are on your way to becoming a Champion in understanding Mental Health. If you had problems, you had better look over the material again.
