Physical Science Experiments

Scientific experiments are usually done to verify a hypothesis, to gather data for establishing a theory, or to demonstrate a principle. Many scientific experiments are done in the laboratory. You can also do some of those hands-on experiments in your home for later demonstration in school or in a Science Fair.

Presently, the movement has been toward doing simulated experiments, using the computer. In fact, most work in electronic circuits is first simulated on a computer, before a device is made with hardware. If you have any questions, send us an email.

Hands-on Experiments

The following are physical science experiments that you can do in your school laboratory or at home. They are effective in helping you learn the subject matter through hands-on experience.

Experiments with States of Matter

Temperature and changing states of matter

Mpemba Effect - Does hot water freeze faster than cold water?

Experiments with Static Electricity

Sticking balloons to things

Making an electroscope

Bending water with static electricity

Picking up with your comb

Creating and controlling sparks

Controlling static cling

Experiments with Fluids

How can you measure the volume of an irregularly shaped object?

What is the relationship between water pressure and depth?

How can you compare the density of two different liquids?

What is the relationship between weight in water and weight in air?
