How do you round off 827.9 nm to nearest 1 nm or 263.4 or 503.1.

Answer

927.9 nm is almost 928, so rounding to the nearest 1 nm is 928 nm.
But 263.4 is closer to 263 than 264, so the answer is 263. Likewise with 503.1. The answer is 503.

A big problem when a number ends in 5, such as 236.5, since it is half way from 236 and 237. Either answer is correct, but often they take the higher number.
