Mini-Quiz: Antiparticles

by Ron Kurtus (revised 24 August 2014)

Take this Mini-Quiz to check your understanding of the lesson material.

1. How many antiquarks are needed to make an antiproton?

Three antiquarks

Two antiquarks and one positron

There are no antiquarks in an antiproton

2. Why do the two photons from an antiparticle-particle collision move in opposite directions?

Because photons repel each other

They actually move toward each other

So that the total momentum will remain the same as before

3. What do the radioactive isotopes emit after being injected in a person during a PET Scan?

Gamma rays

Positrons

Nuclear energy

If you got all three correct, you are on your way to becoming a Champion in Physics. If you had problems, you had better look over the material again.

Think beyond the limits
