Mini-Quiz: Speed of Light

by Ron Kurtus (revised 6 October 2007)

Take this Mini-Quiz to check your understanding of the lesson material.

1. About how far does light travel in 1/10 second?

18,600 miles or 30,000 kilometers

186,000 miles or 300,000 kilometers

1,860,000 miles or 3,000,000 kilometers

2. Why does light bend when it goes through glass at an angle?

It goes faster, causing the beam to bend

It goes slower, causing the beam to bend

Light can't pass through glass

3. What happens when matter travels at 190,000 miles/sec or 310,000 km/sec?

The matter heats up because of the high speed

It becomes invisible to most people

Matter can't go faster than the speed of light

If you got all three correct, you are on your way to becoming a Champion in Physics. If you had problems, you had better look over the material again.
