Mini-Quiz: Hearing Pitch or Sound Frequencies

by Ron Kurtus (7 March 2001)

Take this Mini-Quiz to check your understanding of the lesson material.

1. Can a mouse hear a frog croak?

Yes, because their hearing is similar

Not very well, if at all

Mice are afraid of frogs because of their croaking

2. What advantage is there to an elephant's hearing range?

They can hear sounds from other elephants miles away

They can hear sounds that don't exist

Their ears protect them from the hot sun

3. Why couldn't the old man hear his wife very well?

He could hear her, but he didn't want to listen

Her voice was high pitched, which he couldn't hear any more

He needed the volume turned up

If you got all three correct, you are on your way to becoming a Champion in Understanding Senses. If you had problems, you had better look over the material again.
