Mini-Quiz: Character Important in Public Speaking

by Ron Kurtus (revised 30 April 2012)

Take this Mini-Quiz to check your understanding of the lesson material.

1. Should you tell off-color jokes to keep the audience interested in your speech?

Yes, because they will think you are a real "character"

Dirty jokes are acceptable if they are not too dirty

You may get a laugh from some, but many will lose respect for you

2. Why is reliability important for a speaker?

The audience needs assurance that you will show up

It is important on the job but not in public speaking

An unreliable speaker shows he is more important than others

3. How can you, as a speaker, get a reputation of having character?

Be honest, honorable and conscientious in everything you do

Have publicity pictures, showing you doing good deeds

Always dress as if going to church

If you got all three correct, you are on your way to becoming a Champion in Public Speaking. If you had problems, you had better look over the material again.

Always do the right thing
