Mini-Quiz: Know Your Audience Before Speaking to a Group

by Ron Kurtus (revised 1 August 2005)

Take this Mini-Quiz to check your understanding of the lesson material.

1. Why should you worry about satisfying the audience?

To help you achieve your speaking goals

You can't please everyone, so just please yourself

Worry about not looking too foolish or forgetting things

2. How can you find out about the audience before you speak?

Prepare five different speeches, just in case

Do some research on who is in the audience and their expectations

It doesn't matter, if you are a dynamic speaker

3. What happens if the audience seems bored?

Ignore them and just keep going until you are done

Tell some dirty jokes

Try to summarize and cut the talk short

If you got all three correct, you are on your way to becoming a Champion in Public Speaking. If you had problems, you had better look over the material again.

Relating to others will help you succeed
