Mini-Quiz: Importance of Character in Technical Writing

by Ron Kurtus (revised 16 March 2012)

Take this Mini-Quiz to check your understanding of the lesson material.

1. What should you do if your boss wants you to write false information in a document to make the product look good?

Do it, because he's the boss and you're just a writer

Agree to do it, but then write the true information anyway

Refuse; Better to lose a job than lose your self-respect

2. Is it OK to use the company copier to make copies for your church charity drive?

Using materials without permission is stealing, even if for a good cause

As long as no one finds out

Anything for the church is justifiable

3. Suppose you are so conscientious that people take advantage of you?

You can be conscientious, but you shouldn't be a doormat

Always do things for other people, even if they are lazy

Lie to them and say you have other things to do

If you got all three correct, you are on your way to becoming a Champion in Technical Writing. If you had problems, you had better look over the material again.

Always do the right thing
