Mini-Quiz: List of Search Engines

by Ron Kurtus (revised 12 July 2005)

Take this Mini-Quiz to check your understanding of the lesson material.

1. How do most search engines find sites to list?

Companies or people pay them to list their sites

They have a trained staff of people to find sites

They use applications that continually search through the Internet

2. Why would you use a meta search site?

You can find sites one major engine may miss

Many have clever names

There is no good reason to use one

3. Is there much reason to use a minor search engine?

You want to give the little guys a chance

The site must have a real advantage or special capabilities to use it

You are better off using minor engines, because they are less expensive

If you got all three correct, you are on your way to becoming a Champion in Web Design. If you had problems, you had better look over the material again.
