Mini-Quiz: Getting the Reader's Interest

by Ron Kurtus (revised 5 October 2006)

Take this Mini-Quiz to check your understanding of the lesson material.

1. Why is the title important?

So the person gets curious about the material

To lead into your by-line

A good title has between 3 and 5 words

2. Why should you mention the theme in your opener?

It lets them know what the material is about, getting their interest

You actually mention your theme in the title

To give away the plot

3. Why is the conclusion also important?

It is so confusing that it encourages them to read the material again

It leaves the reader with a good taste in his or her mouth

You know you have finally finished writing this tripe

If you got all three correct, you are on your way to becoming a Champion in Writing. If you had problems, you had better look over the material again.

If you write something worthwhile, you are helping mankind
