# Mini-Quiz: Solving a Linear Equation with One Variable

by Ron Kurtus (revised 17 August 2012)

Take this Mini-Quiz to check your understanding of the lesson material.

1. What is the solution of the equation 2x = x + 3?

x = 3

3x = 3

3 = −x

2. What is the solution of the equation (x − 2a)/2 = 0?

x = 2 + 2a

x = 2a

x = 2

3. What is the solution of the equation 1/(x + 1) = 5?

1 = 5(x + 1)

x = −4/5

x = 4/5

If you got all three correct, you are on your way to becoming a Champion in Algebra. If you had problems, you had better look over the material again.
