# Mini-Quiz: Using the Quadratic Equation Formula

by Ron Kurtus (updated 18 January 2022)

Take this Mini-Quiz to check your understanding of the lesson material.

1. What are the solutions to x2 − x − 6 = 0?

x = [−1 ± √(−1 + 24)]/2

x = [1 ± √(1 + 24)]/2

x = 2 and x = 3

2. What are the solutions to 2x2 + 5x + 1 = 0?

x = [−5 ± √17]/4

x = −5 ± (√17)/4

x = [−5 ± √−17]/4

3. What are the solutions to x2 − x + 1 = 0?

x = 1/2 ± (√−3)/2

x = −1/2 ± (√3)/2

x = −1/2 ± (√−3)/2

If you got all three correct, you are on your way to becoming a Champion in Algebra. If you had problems, you had better look over the material again.

Be confident
