Question

July 16, 2018

Hi,

I'm a substitute science teacher for Jefferson Elementary school. I've been teaching my summer students on how dangerous black mold can be around animals. I just wanted to send you a quick email. We came across your page http://www.school-for-champions.com/animalhealth/resources.htm and found it useful.

My kids and I wanted to send you back another page we found that included a page about black mold affecting cats. We thought you might want to add it your site because it explains it pretty well. Here it is: http://moldresolve.org/how-to-protect-your-cat-from-mold/

Would you be able to consider adding a link to the page they found on your site for them? I'd love to show them that reaching out works. They would be so excited!

Thank you in advance.

Hello there,

I am the author of an interview blog called "How I Got Into Veterinary School".

I was wondering if my blog could be included in your "animal health resources" page?

The focus is on interviewing veterinarians and vet students on how they go in. (because competition is so high)

Please let me know.

Thank you,

Thanks for the suggested resource. I added a link to your blog at Animal Health Resources. Best wishes in your efforts.

List short on cat resources

Topic: Resources

Question

November 16, 2017

Hey, I was just emailing you because I was looking through the animal health section and really loved what was up but noticed the cat section was a little short. I'm a newer cat mom (I've usually only had pups) and I've done quite a bit of researching on the subject since I've never had one around before. I just figured maybe some of the things I've found really helpful for me could also be helpful for the list?

Warmly,

Veronica - USA

Answer

Yes, I need to add more material about cats, and I am working on that. I've had cats, as well as a cat and dog living together.

I'd be glad to get more resources on taking care of cats. Thanks for the offer, and best wishes enjoying your new pet.

Question

Hi there,

I write for Pet Life Today and I’m reaching to share our guide "The State of Pet Healthcare in 2017," which explores pet health care costs and trends, common illnesses, insurance and financial aid options, and more: https://petlifetoday.com/state-of-pet-healthcare/

We've also created a custom graphic for pet owners on the most common health problems for dogs and cats with symptoms and treatment: https://petlifetoday.com/state-of-pet-healthcare/#infographic

If you like them, I hope you’d consider adding the guide or the infographic (or both) to your pet health resources page.

Thanks!

Chihuahua is in pain

Topic: Giving Your Dog Aspirin

Question

March 27, 2017

My chihuahua has been yelping a lot like she's in pain. It happens when you pet her or she tries to jump on the couch or bed. Even sometimes when she's walking. Is it alright to give her half of an aspirin.

Marie - USA

Answer

It would be good to find out why she is in pain. Is it an injury? Is it arthritis, or something else?

With such a small dog, you need to be careful on giving aspirin, so that you don't give too much. I think it would be best to check with a vet to get the correct remedy and dosage.

Best wishes for the recovery of your dog.

Dog bitten by Pit Bulls

Topic: General

Question

February 25, 2017

My Pitt got attacked by two other pit bulls. We were sitting down on steps. He has puncture wounds on his chest throat behind his right ear and one on the top of his head and some scratch marks around his mouth. He is laying still and sleeping a lot and would not eat which is one of his favorite things. My question is should he be seen by a vet?

Sue - USA

27908

Answer

You definitely should bring your dog to see a vet as soon as possible. You need to make sure the wounds are not serious and to protect against infection from the bites.

I hope your dog is OK. Best wishes for his complete recovery.

Doberman hurt her leg

Topic: Giving Your Dog Aspirin

Question

August 28, 2016

Hello,
My Doberman weighs 76lbs lbs. she is hurting with her hind leg. May I give her a aspirin? If so how much.
Thank you for you time.

Christine - USA

27246

Answer

I am sorry to hear that your dog has a sore leg. If she is really in pain and, you could give her an aspirin to help relieve the pain. But be sure to give the aspirin with food.

Also, make sure it isn't a serious injury. A simple sprain can heal quickly, but a torn ligament would require a vet to look at it.

Do not give the aspirin more than a day or two. Hopefully, she will be back to normal by then.
