Mini-Quiz: Cultures in Animal Groups

by Ron Kurtus (updated 19 January 2022)

Take this Mini-Quiz to check your understanding of the lesson material.

1. Do some groups of lions have a different culture concerning hunting?

No, because all lions teach their young to hunt the same way

Yes, because lions near the desert must hunt differently than those in lush areas

No one is sure because lions are so secretive

2. Why don't Sumatra and Borneo orangutans behave the same way?

They live on different islands and learn different techniques

They do behave the same way when people aren't around

Borneo orangutans are much larger and don't need to behave

3. How did chimps learn to catch termites with a stick?

They imitated how people caught termites

It is an inborn trait of all chimpanzees

It probably was by accident and only certain groups know the technique

If you got all three correct, you are on your way to becoming a Champion in Understanding Behavior. If you had problems, you had better look over the material again.
