Mini-Quiz: Behavior of Parrots and other Hookbills

by Tina Mischke (1 June 2002)

Take this Mini-Quiz to check your understanding of the lesson material.

1. Why do people sometimes buy a parrot?

Parrots have hypnotic powers that affect people

It is an impulse purchase upon seeing a speaking bird

Usually they are captured in the yard and caged

2. Why do hookbills bite?

It is a defensive reflex if the bird feels threatened

They think you hand is food

They don't bite, they peck

3. What is a major requirement for hookbill owners?

They must have a valid driver's license

They must learn to speak slowly, so the bird will start talking

They need to give their birds plenty of attention

If you got all three correct, you are on your way to becoming a Champion in Understanding Behavior. If you had problems, you had better look over the material again.
