Understanding Good Nutrition

Good nutrition is important to all of us.

Nutrition is the study of nutrients in food, how the body uses them, and the relationship between diet, health, and disease. It is about eating a healthy and balanced diet. Food and drink provide the energy and nutrients you need to be healthy. Nutrition is also how food affects the health of the body. Food is essential—it provides vital nutrients for survival, and helps the body function and stay healthy.

Do you want the best that life has to offer? …the best body and mind possible, enough energy to work hard at the things that are most important to you, the ability to grow old gracefully and avoid chronic, degenerative disease… This is success—being the best that you can possibly be.

The underpinning of success is our health—a healthy body and a healthy mind. Isn’t it easier to concentrate of things you’re pursuing when your body is at optimal level and you’re not stalled by dealing with physical ailments? Isn’t a sound body, energized to do your life work, more powerful than one that is droopy, tired and lackluster, perhaps suffering with some type of disease?

Success in life is caused by many factors and our health is one of them. Nutrition is a large contributor to health and, fortunately, it is one thing that we have some control over. Nature designed us to be disease-resistant. Food provides the fuel that makes up our cells, organs, and brains. Let’s work in concert with nature by achieving the best nutritional status we can.
