Mini-Quiz: ISBN Used to Identify Your Book

by Ron Kurtus (revised 10 June 2012)

Take this Mini-Quiz to check your understanding of the lesson material.

1. What type of self-published book would NOT need an ISBN?

A book intended for personal use or sold independently

A textbook used in schools

A book to be printed in China

2. How can you tell the country where the book was published?

The name of the country is included in the ISBN

The ISBN starts with certain digits indicating the country

You can tell by the language in which the book is printed

3. What is a disadvantage of buying a single ISBN for a hardcopy book?

You can only use the number on ten books at a time

Bowker wants you to pay before you get the number

It is not cost-effective if you will have other versions of the book

If you got all three correct, you are on your way to becoming a Champion in Self-Publishing. If you had problems, you had better look over the material again.
